This research has as main objective to analyze the barriers and opportunities of the women members of the research groups of mechanical engineering, mechatronics and informatics of the PUCP in their training as professionals and researchers of engineering. The specific objectives that led to the study were: i) to analyze the family and educational socialization processes through which the IG members became interested in the STEM topics; Ii) identify the motivations that led the current members of the IG of the PUCP to participate in them; Iii) analyze the process of training women as researchers within their IM; And iv) identify opportunities and / or barriers to research both within and outside the IM.
The added value of this research lies in providing evidence to account for the barriers and opportunities faced by women to join and actively participate in scientific production in engineering. Thus, we sought to identify how a transitional space such as GI helps to promote the training of professional women in the research field. In addition, it explores the different stages of socialization in which interest in the CTIM is generated during childhood, in the family or at school.
